Josh Modell of the Onion AV Club had the chance to catch a preview of PTA’s There Will Be Blood, and says it is not only the best film he has seen this year, but one of the best movies he has ever seen, period.

More and more, I’ve realized that with some of my clients, I’m not really a consultant: I’m a vendor. I’m fulfilling deliverables and that’s all. So that’s why (and I’ll explain about this all later) I’m not renewing some of my contracts for next year. I need a bigger challenge.
My not-so-secret love affair with Twitter →
I’m not going to try and hide it anymore: I’ve been in the thrall of a torrid love affair for the past year, and it has been consuming every moment of my day, every single inch of my personal fabric. I’ve been so wrapped up in this new affair that my first love of my life—this blog here—has suffered and has even gone through periods of long neglect.
We have been told our whole life that anything is possible. Well, our parents...

Apparently, they’re making a movie about the life of one of my favorite football players ever, former NY Jet Joe Namath. Scary part? Jake Gyllenhaal will play Broadway Joe. No word yet on whether Suzy Kolber will be making an appearance.
Despite recent improvements, Canada has long lagged the world in terms of mobile...

Just added this blog to my RSS reader. Some good stuff in there for new young professionals.
In a sign of just how busy I have been this year, I have only read one book on the New York Times list of 100 Notable Books of 2007. Of course, I’ve read a lot of old books, but I just haven’t had the time to go and buy new releases this year.
Everyone should watch this slideshow, along with the accompanying audio. It has some great examples of good and bad writing on the web.
Email Standards Project
For a long time, I hated HTML email. I used to almost automatically delete every HTML email I would receive, and would quickly decry the use of bloated HTML for simple messages.
I’m still not a huge fan of HTML email, but in the past few months, I’ve been seeing a rise in well-designed, content-rich HTML emails in my inbox, and I’ve come to realize that there is a place and...

I love this article on Webware about six upgrades that are really downgrades. Some of the up/downgrades include Vista, Quicken, Linksys WRT54G, Zune, iPod(!), and fega-megapixel cameras.
This strike isn’t about television or film. It’s about high-profile...

This month: Bringing short film to the eyes of Torontonians, and an interview with Dave Silverberg, co-founder of Electric Silverberg Productions.
I’m not afraid to admit it. This photo slideshow of Jeffrey Deskovic’s first year out of jail after being wrongfully convicted made me tear up. Extremely powerful stuff.

“Let’s not wait for inspiration, but let’s be ready for it when it comes.”
As someone that used to play on the offensive line, I used to think that us linemen got no respect. After reading this, I’ve realized that kickers probably have it even worse than we do.

The Dark Knight
If you, like me, are inordinately excited about the upcoming release of The Dark Knight, I thought I’d share a few links with you.
The marketing team behind the film now have launched eight viral sites that are supposed to cause some interest in the film, including: The Gotham Times, The Ha Ha Ha Times, Remembering Gina, Gotham National Bank, We Are the Answer, Gotham Police Department,...
I’ve been underwhelmed by the Kindle as soon as it was announced. Looks like Scoble has some problems with it as well.
As someone who spends about 25 days of every month traveling, I can completely understand every point that Tara makes in her recent post called Travel 101.2. If you happen to do a lot of travel for work, I’d highly recommend reading her post. Particularly the bit about using things like TripIt for itinerary management and buying good luggage. (I use the Samsonite Black Label Opto, which...

Watch a lot of TED Talks? Then you’ll love this satire by Tom Rielly. (Only recommended if you’ve seen many of the seminal TED videos from this year.)
Webworking Hours
For the past two years, I’ve been working as a freelance web worker even when I’ve always known I flourish much more in the office environment. That being said, I’ve learned a lot working as a freelancer so far, but there are still many things that I feel I am not doing well. One of the aspects that definitely needs improvement is my ability to manage my hours so that I am not...
Christmas books: past present future →
The Guardian Book Review this past Saturday had a wonderful feature entitled Christmas books past present and future where they asked prominent authors to elaborate on their favorite books that they have received, given, or plan to read during the holiday season over the years.

Lyricism
Dialogue is overrated.
Instead, I want to listen to
the melody of her features,
the harmony of her contours,
the beat of her movements,
while I talk to her in tones
of awe and appreciation.
Why have conversation
when she can tell me stories
of her beauty
in the music of her smile?

I’m already having tons of fun playing with Flickr’s new Places feature. So much more interesting than “interestingness,” but then again, I love exploring different parts of the world, whether in real life or online. (Love is geographical, right Helen?)
True story: I’ve never lost at Monopoly, ever. And I’ve never actually owned either Park Place or Boardwalk before either, but always end up owning all the railroads. Coincidence? Nope. This site shows exactly why my technique (yes, they’re giving away my secret) has been the best since I started playing at the age of six.
Remember that guy that posted those fantastic infographics about the different kinds of coffee drinks? Well he’s now got an equally wonderful set of infographics describing baseball pitches.
