Just Touched Down in London Town

Well, that’s a bit of a lie. Been here since Friday morning actually.

Just wanted to apologize for not doing much on this site for the past couple of days. I’m on a quick weekend trip to London to visit some friends on this side of the ocean. Should be back in Toronto on Monday, so I’ll get back in the swing of thigns then.

Until then, cheerio!

Ad networks: the new cool kid clique? -

I’ve played with advertising on Eloquation and Squandrous in the past. While all my advertising experiments have been a relative success when it comes to making money, I really didn’t feel as though the Google Ads (or even the few ads bought directly) did much to enhance the experience on my site.

My rationale to get rid of advertising was based on the fact that the money I gained from advertising wasn’t worth the time and energy I put in and impact they had on my sites.

The real reason I don’t have advertising on my site? I’m not cool enough.

There’s an amazing Abstract City piece in the New York Times about loving the MTA. From the piece:

A chaperone on one of Arthur’s school trips told me something he overheard when all the kids were neatly lined up in rows of two. The girl holding Arthur’s hand asked him, “Have you heard of Peter Pan?” “No,” he replied, “have you heard of Metro North?”

Check out the whole piece, it’s beautiful.

Not exactly sure what this Last.fm spiral says about my listening habits, but I think it’s pretty cool. Make your own.Not exactly sure what this Last.fm spiral says about my listening habits, but I think it’s pretty cool. Make your own.

BedPost Invite -

Yes, I’m fishing for an invite here. BedPost looks like a fun little app that I want to play with, but the beta sign-up link doesn’t work.

And yes, I’m extremely aware of the fact that this will do nothing but make me even more depressed about my sporadic love life, but still. Send me an invite. Please.
