Elsie Flannigan has been sharing lots of photos from her wedding over on her blog this week, and this photo of her bridesmaids’ brightly-colored tights made me smile very wide.
I made a Google Calendar with all the free outdoor movie screenings in Toronto this summer, and my friend Matti created a live-updating webpage with the calendar data. If you’re looking for a free outdoor movie screening in Toronto, check out TO Summer Movies.
(And yes, I shamelessly stole the idea from NYC Summer Movies. Kudos to @matthewhowell for making that one.)
The sun is shining, the air is heavy with the heat. Every few minutes, a light breeze rushes through, cutting the sticky heat for a few seconds before it passes and the air becomes heavy again. On the sidewalks, women walk by, sipping iced teas, wearing beautiful floral sundresses, making me smile at the beauty around me.
A perfect summer Saturday afternoon.
When I cannot look at your face
I look at your feet.
Your feet of arched bone,
your hard little feet.
I know that they support you,
and that your sweet weight
rises upon them.
Your waist and your breasts,
the doubled purple
of your nipples,
the sockets of your eyes
that have just flown away,
your wide fruit mouth,
your red tresses,
my little tower.
But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.

I’m just heading out the door to do some grocery shopping at Whole Foods, watching this excellent video to get me all psyched up.

In honor of the Mavericks winning the NBA title, I give to you: championship rings since 1947, by Robb Harskamp and Milton Un, via Chitwood and Hobbs.
I’m so excited that Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd are getting rings, finally, after their long and impressive careers.
Hector Thunderstorm Project, by Murray Fredericks.
Another incredible video found on Stellar. I want to use this as my screen saver, or have it permanently projected on my wall.
Our union is like this: You feel cold, so I reach for a blanket to cover our shivering feet.
A hunger comes into your body, so I run to my garden and start digging potatoes.
You asked for a few words of comfort and guidance, and I quickly kneel by your side offering you a whole book as a gift.
You ache with loneliness one night so much you weep, and I say here is a rope, tie it around me, I will be your companion for life.
