Squandrous

Last night, I lit the firelog and sat in front of my fireplace, under the covers, listening to Miles Davis, sipping tea and eating maple walnut cookies, and a few clear thoughts passed through my head:

1. It’s almost Christmas, and I can’t wait.
2. I need to make it a point to live only in places that have real, wood fireplaces.
3. Sitting, reading, enjoying the fire is much more pleasurable for me than going out and being extravagant.
4. Sometimes the best times you spend with someone are the times when you are quiet, enjoying the connectedness in the silence of each other’s company.

Another thought that passed through my head was “ow, my knee is in a ton of pain,” but that was beside the point.
