Andy has done a great job of outlining how The Times Online has been spamming social media sites over the past few months. As Andy says in the comments, the real problem is not that The Times was using the power of social media sites to spread their content — in fact, I would expect that from a good online publication. Instead, the problem is the lack of transparency in the manner that it is being done in this case: not declaring interests and affiliations in this kind of practice is bad form.
