As a film industry writer and part-time film critic, I have to tip my hat to Roger Ebert. He may not be my favorite critic, but his knowledge and love for film shines in every single article and review he may write.
He was also the man that made film criticism glamorous: a man that inspired young people like me to believe that there is some value in a domain that many consider unnecessary in today’s on-demand world.
A.O. Scott, my favorite film critic and my inspiration on how to craft the written word, penned a stunning tribute to Roger Ebert in the New York Times this past week. Please read it and discover the genius of both Scott and Ebert.
And then help me believe that one day, I can be like them too.
