To be honest, I’ve never really been the biggest fan of Fake Steve. Though he does make some good points in his rant against “the establishment” while proclaiming the power of The Valley.
It’s true: a big part of the reason Obama picked up so much momentum is because he targeted right people (namely, the socially-connected and technologically-savvy crowd) and capitalized on their need to engage. Because of that, as Fake Steve says:
For the next eight years we’re going to be running this country. We’re going to give equal rights to gay people, fund stem-cell research, teach evolution, take down the fence on the Mexican border, and make sure abortion stays safe and legal. We’re going to pull out of Iraq, shut down Gitmo, and stop torturing people. And yeah. A black dude with a Muslim-sounding name and degrees from Columbia and Harvard is going to be in charge.
Sounds a bit like utopia to me. Sadly, I’m still convinced that this long nomination fight will end up hurting the Democrats in November, but hopefull we can right that ship.
On a side note, I love how Fake Steve describes people in The Valley:
We’re a powerful bunch of khaki-wearing, gay-marriage-supporting, arugula-eating, Mac-using elitist nerds out here.
Now that I think of it, he just described me perfectly.
