It’s no surprise that Wall·E packed an emotional punch that touched me to the core. So I guess I shouldn’t be surprised to hear that the folks at Pixar responsible for making the film were just as equally invested in its emotional impact.
Over on Metafilter, Astro Zombie tells a story about Wall·E and Pixar that is sure to leave you in tears. His girlfriend created a video of her watching the film’s trailer, and the people at Pixar invited her to the wrap party in San Francisco.
I loved this short excerpt from the story:
Pixar has never tried to make use of this story for promotional purposes. They really did it exclusively because they were touched by Courtney’s response to their trailer, and because they thought it would be nice, and because they thought it would be a treat to their employees, who, from what I have seen, they treat with enormous respect.
If there was any doubt before that Pixar was the greatest film studio to ever exist, I think that those doubts can effectively be washed away.
