The New York Times — always coming up with amazing things to keep me occupied every day — has asked more than 200 people in 14 states to identify their greatest hopes for what Barack Obama might accomplish during his time as president. They’ve bundled the top 29 hopes and presented the audio clips on their new micro-site, I Hope So Too.
With the inauguration only a few days away, I was trying to figure out what I was hoping for from Obama’s presidency and realized that the answer was simple: I want Barack to get rid of the rhetoric of fear. America (the world?) has lived too long in an atmosphere where actions were driven by fear rather than the potential to do good. That needs to change.
Let’s bring back hope. That’s my hope.
