All through childhood, I assumed that every little boy, at around the age of eight, got a lesson from their dad on how to tie a necktie. I didn’t know them by name, but I learned how to tie a variety of knots for a variety of styles and occasions.
Then, I went to college and learned that very few little boys learned how to tie a necktie. I learned this because almost everyone would ask me to tie theirs when it was time to dress up. Even now, in my late twenties, I still run into men who need help with their ties.
Maybe they should teach this in elementary schools.
