A year ago today, I learned that ducks always swim in pairs, that carnations bought off the back of pick-up trucks can live a very long time, that John Green is a good author, and that strolls by the waterfront can be a constant source of smiles, even years later. A year ago tomorrow, I explored a castle covered in white-out and green paint, had some super-tasty rapini, watched UP! for the second time, got a song from High School Musical permanently stuck in my head, and realized that sometimes a simple weekend with a friend can change everything for the better.

I am all smiles, today.
